Let's start with an introduction. What’s your name, age, and @?

"Mwewa Kasongo, 19, @mkdrawings "

Great, What’s your preferred medium?

"My preferred medium is acrylic paint."

Why did you start creating?

"The reason I started creating was through the fascination of faces, specifically female faces, and how much diversity there is in the way faces come together. It was really interesting to really start to appreciate how beautiful and different people look"

That’s insanely beautiful, wow.

Okay, so you mentioned striving for diversity in your subjects

Is their any particular reason why?

"Thank you. I feel like striving for diversity in portraiture is important, because it helped me understand there is no “right module” to being beautiful, everyone facial features coming in different shapes and sizes and that’s true beauty of it all."

What would you say is your main inspiration or what drives you?

"My main inspiration is my mum, shes always shown me how to work hard for things I love because in the end, you'll most likely get what you work for. "

I think that's so sweet!! What’s something you live by, it doesn't have to be a motto specifically it can be anything?
"Something I live by is just to always be kind to people. You never really know what people are going through unless they open up to you, and you never really know how your words and actions will affect them."

Which one of your pieces would you consider your favorite and why?

My favourite piece so far would probably be “The waters of Solitude.” I painted this in a time I really felt lonely even though I had my close friends. I look at it now and the reason it’s my favourite is because I’ve grown to find comfort and love in my own company and how my solidity isn’t a negative thing anymore.

What do you hope people get out of your art?
"I'm hoping to start to share more of my personal art which has a lot of meaning behind them soon, but I want people to get comfort out of my art, or even just them learning something about themselves through seeing my art."

Well. I'm excites to see it ! The next question is a bit of a wild card. If aliens said they were coming down to earth to destroy it in 24hrs what would you do in your last day?
"I would get a tattoo of one of Miles Johnston's paintings because he's one of my favorite artists, link up with my best friends and go to the beach, and then go sky diving 5 min before the earth is destroyed.."

I think that's beautiful wow.  What do you do when you feel uninspired?

"After procrastinating, usually I layout all my stuff out, listen to music and try to push myself to create something without trying to pressure myself into trying to draw something “perfect”."
